So here is the much-awaited information regarding Paddle with UC. If you're even just a tiny bit curious about what dragon boat is like, you should come out and try it out! This even is open to everyone so, friends and family are also welcome.

So here's the important stuff.

Date: Saturday October 3rd
Time: 10:30am
Location: Balmy Beach Canoe Club, in front of the club gates
Cost: $10 (covers the boat rental, as well as food for the !!BBQ!! afterwards)

What to bring:

• clothes that are somewhat waterproof for when you are paddling; try to avoid wearing thick cotton (i.e. don't wear sweatpants like I did last year..)
  * we aren't going to be going in the water, but you ARE going to get wet


• a change of clothes (dress warmly since it's starting to get chilly and it's colder by the waters)


• tuques are much recommended as they will keep you warm on the waters!

How to get there:

Via TTC:

1. Go to Coxwell subway station and take the 22/22A bus southbound


2. Get off at Queen St. and walk south on Coxwell towards Lakeshore
   *you can also alternately take the Queen St street car eastbound, getting off at Coxwell*


3. Follow Ashridges Bay Park Rd inside; at the fork in the road stay right


4. The club is the first right, you know you're there when you hit gravel

Via Car:

1. Take the DVP south and take the exit for Lakeshore Blvd


2. Head east on Lakeshore


3. Turn right on to Ashbridges Bay Park Rd


4. Follow the road in, keeping right (this should bring you to the parking lot)
   * Please note that there is pay parking if you'll be driving there.

The UC Waterdragons are currently recruiting for new members for the 2009-2010 season. There will be several opportunities in September to meet the coaching staff and to learn more about the team and the tryout process. Here is a list of what's coming up:

Friday, September 4th: UTSU Clubs Fair, Kings College Circle

Tuesday, September 8th: UC Clubs Fair, 10-2 pm

Tuesday, September 15th: Information Session, 6-7 pm, Meeting Room @ Hart House

Thursday, September 24th: Information Session, 7:30-8:30 pm, North Dining Room @ Hart House


All U of T students, faculty and staff are welcome! If you cannot attend any of these events but are interested in learning more, please don't hesitate to email us (ucdragonboat@gmail.com).
